Great Toy Woodworking Plans is not Complete Without a Wooden Toy Box
A great weekend project for you and the kids would be building a wooden toy box. The perfect size to build your wooden toy box would be 3 feet long, 18 inches tall and 2 feet wide. This easy toy woodworking plan should only take you a couple of hours to complete. You only need the basic power tools and paintbrushes, stencils add a nice finishing touch if you wish to use them. You probably have all the materials lying around, you just need plywood and paint. This simple toy woodworking plan will give you some time to bond with the kids, give them a great sense of accomplishment and they will probably use the wooden toy box more often because they got to help build it.
After following these steps you will be able to assemble your toy woodworking plan. You start off by cutting the plywood. You need 6 pieces of ¾-inches. The front and back of the box should measure 36-by-24-inches and you will need 2 pieces of these. For the bottom you need to cut a piece 36-by16 1/2 inches. Next would be the two sides of the box which should measure 22 1/2-by-16 1/2 inches. Lastly, the top piece should measure 36-by-18 inch.
After you measure the plywood, lay it on a flat surface. You should then stand the front piece against the bottom. Begin to connect it using six 1 ½-inch screws. Do the same thing with the back piece.
You then slide the side pieces of the box in-between the front and back. You will now need four 1 1/2-inch screws and insert it to the front, back and bottom of the box in order to connect all the sides. Using three safety hinges, begin to attach it to the lid and then position one, 3 inches from every end. The third one should be placed directly in the center. Next would be to position the lid on top of the box after which the three hinges should be connected to the back.
The next step would be to ensure that all the screw holes are filled with wood putty. Let this dry before sanding the whole box. Finally, smooth out the wood putty and take out the remaining rough edges (if any). Now you can include the kids in painting and decorating the wooden toy box or they can add their own designs if they want.
