Woodworking project question?

I am going to build a changing table/dresser out of some beautiful 1″X8″ white oak. The problem is I haven’t ever built something strictly from plank wood, usually my projects have come from sheets of plywood. I plan to have open shelving that small baskets sit in, so there are no drawers, but I want to avoid being able to see any kind of frame of a lesser wood. If this makes sense please throw me any ideas you can, they’d be welcomed and greatly appreciated!!

Using the planks is fine, my husband uses them quite often in his building projects. The best thing you could do is on the edge of each plank drill holes for dowel plugs (it’s best to have a doweling jig for this so they will match up correctly, or make yourself a jig out of cardboard to mark your holes). Anyway, take a plank shove the dowels in, using a little bit of wood glue, then using the same wood glue brush some on the whole edge of the plank, and then attach it to another plank. Wipe of any glue that seeps out of the seam, use a large clamp or a strap clamp and clamp it together and let it dry. Do a little sanding on it and it will look like a full sheet of wood.
